If you read the blog, you know that we always have music on in the house. The kids pick up on the songs and sing the words. So tonight, Maggie said, "Mom! I love that song! You know! The one that goes Youuuu.....Give Me...Sumthin'....that I just can not hide. I love that song and I can't get it out of my head."
Caroline chimed in "Yeah! I love that one! You....give me...sumpthin'..."
I could recognise the words, but not the song, so we all came downstairs, and I searched for the song on itunes. Sure enough, I found it, "You Give Me Something" by James Morrison. We downloaded it and began to sing. Maggie was trying to sing it, but she didn't know the words. (Neither did I) - so then we found the lyrics. I played the song, and we read the lyrics and sang the song aloud together. It was so much fun to sing along to a song that we both loved, and for me to watch Maggie read the lyrics with her finger following the words.
I used to teach kids how to read - now my kids are teaching me how to teach! Thanks, little ones!
